GAARC Meeting
Thursday, April 6, 2006
Paul Williams brought the meeting to order.
He thanked Sears for the use of the meeting room followed by introductions by those in attendance.
David Hook gave the treasurers report
Paul showed the list of names and call signs of the new hams from the ARES Tech class.
Congratulations to the new hams.
Paul asked Milton if there was any news or information from ARES.
The ARES yard sale will be held on Saturday, May6, 2006 at the First National Bank, located on S. New Hope Rd.
The Gaston County ARES will also be involved with the upcoming Catawba Drill on Tuesday May 16, 2006. Al and any help would be appreciated.
Paul also informed the members of a couple of new position changes within the ARES.
Paul Robinette, KD4OZI, has taken over the position as the Western Branch Section Emergency Coordinator.
Milton Rice, KC4YOT, has taken over the position as the North Carolina Area 12 District Emergency Coordinator.
Field Day is coming up and there is a possibility that the combined GAARC and GCARES Field Day may include Lincoln County Races.
There will be more discussion on Field Day at upcoming meetings.
Repeater update:
The repeater was experiencing some bad interference for several weeks. The problem was tracked down to a paging transmitter on the mountain. The county was also experiencing problems and with their help the noise has temporarily ceased.
The paging transmitter has been unplugged and we hope to be contacted once it is turned back on
Don’s program for the evening was Amateur Radio in Space
Paul mentioned about Rick Tanner’s loss due to a fire
And if anyone would like a “your call”@gaarc.com email address to please contact him
There was also a discussion about the club property and the possibility of an amateur radio station at the Schiele Museum.
Respectfully submitted,
Ann Rice via Milton Rice
