Glenn Adams (KD4TLC) called the meeting to order.
The antennae for the water tower in Bessemer City
has been purchased and is ready to go on the water tower for the work
day on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005.
The Farmer's Market has confirmed our reservation for December 3, 2005.
They will be changing their fee structure, which we will be made aware
of at our next meeting. Admission will be $5.00 again this year.
James, Keith, Milton, and Paul will be on the Ham Fest Committee this
year.
We will be having a work-day with Gaston County
ARES this Saturday at 9:00 am at the Bessemer City Water Tower.
Items slated for completion include: moving of the 444.750 repeater
from the Red Cross to Whetstone Mountain, replace the current antennae
on the water tank with a new dual-band antennae, installation of a
pocket node, and installation of antennae for the packet node.
Gaston County ARES is sponsoring a Morse Code
Class beginning on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Gaston County
Police Department on West Franklin. The class will run for 8
weeks. Joe Hullender (N4JAH) is teaching the class.
Keith Deal (KG4RVP) discussed the new Gaston County Sky Warn that has
been formed and is sponsored by Gaston County ARES. This Sky Warn
will focus on weather issues for Gaston County. A Radar Class is
being offered on Saturday, October 15, 2005.
Gaston County ARES will be participating in the United Way's Day of
Caring on Friday, August 12, 2005 starting at 9:00 a.m. A sign-up
sheet was passed around for anyone interested in participating.
The McGuire Nuclear drill be will conducted on Tuesday, August 9, 2005
at the Emergency Operations Center. If you cannot stop-by the EOC
to participate, please check-in to the 145.230 repeater.
