Glenn Adams (KD4TLC) called the meeting to order
at: 7:06 p.m.
We finally have some information and a better
understanding with the mall. We will meet in the room across from
Foot Locker for the next few months. The old community room is
being turned into retail space. A new community room is being
moved to a location that has not yet been announced.
Glenn asked everyone to introduce themselves.
David Hook gave the treasurer’s report.
The club will work with ARES on Field Day.
Field Day will be held at Gaston College again this year on June 25-26,
2005. ARES has asked the club to provide some food donations
towards Field Day. The Field Day committee gave a list of needs.
The ARES Yard Sale and Hot Dog sale was a success,
unfortunately the CPR course was not offered because of lack of
interest.
Glenn presented the choice of club logos to the
group and asked for a decision to be made. A motion was made to
adopt one of the logos with the addition of the club's web site and a
couple of minor cosmetic changes. The consensus seemed to be to
include the logo on: Jackets, hats, and shirts.
We still do not have written confirmation on our
reservation for the swap-fest, but we are told that we “should” be
“good-to-go”.
Milton brought a couple of items to the group:
He would like to move the 444.750 repeater off of the roof of the Red
Cross building to the site in Bessemer City. He would also like to
add a packet node to the site in Bessemer City. After much
discussion, a motion was made to move the 444.750 to Bessemer City with
the GAARC club sign, then GAARC and ARES would split the cost of a high
gain 2M/400 antennae, but the antennae will be donated to the club.
The packet node will be moved to Bessemer City but will keep the ARES
call sign, the packet node will use the antennae previously used by the
backup 146.805. The motion passed as written.
Don Wankel (KG4TQE) presented tonight’s program – Field Day. |
